Lesson formats
Four ways to learn here
Lesson length and format are the first things that set tuition. Your teacher suggests the right one.
Private lessons
One student with one teacher, for 30, 45 or 60 minutes each week. Beginners usually start with 30.
30, 45 or 60 minutes
Any instrument
Shared lessons
Two students of a similar level with one teacher, for 45 or 60 minutes. Friends, siblings or a parent and child.
45 or 60 minutes
Two students
Classes and ensembles
The beginner band, the steel pan ensemble and the choir. Classes of up to 10, and not made up when missed.
Thursday and Saturday
Not made up when missed
Summer weeks
Mornings in the hall, a week at a time, ending in a showcase. Billed by the week you choose.
Six weeks
Weekly sign-up
How tuition works
Here is what sets it, and how everything else works.
Four things set tuition: the length of the lesson, whether it is private, shared or a class, the teacher, and how many weeks the term holds. The figures are given to you in writing at the placement visit.
Lesson length: 30, 45 or 60 minutes
Private, shared or a class
Weekly lessons, a term at a time
Registration
A yearly registration covers the student file, the placement visit and scheduling a weekly time with a teacher. It is due when you accept the time we offer.
Billing
Tuition is billed monthly or a term at a time, by autopay or by invoice, and a monthly plan covers the whole term. The summer weeks are billed by the week you choose.
Help with tuition
Financial aid is available. Ask how to apply when you book a placement visit, and we will tell you what we need and when decisions are made.
Siblings are enrolled as one family, with one invoice and lesson times placed back to back when the teachers' days allow. A second student is handled differently from a first, and we explain how at the placement visit.
Withdrawing
We ask for a month's notice, in writing, before a student's last lesson. A term in progress is explained at the placement visit.
Missed classes and make-ups
A lesson cancelled with a day's notice is made up with the same teacher in the same term, and so is a lesson the teacher cancels. Classes, ensembles and summer weeks are not made up.
Rentals, books and other extras
Instrument rental by the term, music books your teacher chooses and the Saturday theory table are extra, and the front desk can tell you how each works. Ask your teacher before you buy or rent anything.
Questions about tuition?
Ask at the placement visit or call the front desk. We will answer in plain words and in writing.
